Phrase Modeled Performance Multi
Version 3.1i

Providing "out of the box" realism (tweak no more)

The Phrase Modeled Performance Multi is a container for all the instruments in the Garritan Libraries (Jazz & Big Band, Personal Orchestra, Concert & Marching Band, Stradivari Violin and Gofriller Cello), that replaces the default multi that loads with the Kontakt 2 Player (stand alone or VSTi).

Scripting
The multi includes scripting which adds phrasing based humanizing automation midi performances. The scripting automates instrument characteristics such as vibrato, string bowing, breath & key noise, timbre & tuning, growl / flutter, eq, breath sounds and string noise. The script supports Program Change messages for instrument defaults and keyswitching. The scripting also supports various Jazz Articulations such as bends, falls, drops, gliss and trills generating pitch-bend or note generation from single cc controllers. Drum & Timpani rolls and brush swishes are also generated from cc controllers. Scripting is controlled by the expression cc11 controller (soft / loose to hard / tight) which can be further modified by the individual cc controllers an instrument responds to. more on scripting

Body Impulse Responses
Body impulses that can be selected into KP2's convolution output effect are provided for virtually all instrument classes.

The following body impulses are included
Alto Sax - Tenor Sax - Baritone Sax
Bassoon - Clarinet - Flute - Oboe
Violin - Viola - Cello - Dbl Bass - Upright Bass
French Horn - Trumpet - Trombone
Piano - Vibes - Guitar - Harpsichord
Drumset - Percussion

Body impulses add depth and resonance to the instruments and are designed to be used in conjunction with conventional reverb or convolution to simulate rooms, halls studios etc.

Custom Keyswitch Instruments
Building on the Sax Doubles KS instruments additional keyswitch instruments are included to save on channel assignments in the provided multis. The Piano KS includes the JABB Steinway and Rhodes Pianos. The Basses KS includes the JABB Upright, Arco, Fingered and Fretless basses. The Guitars KS instrument includes the Jazz & Acoustic guitars. The GM Drum KS includes both the GM stick and brush drum sets. The Trumpet / Flugelhorn KS includes the Trumpet mute KS, Flugelhorn and Plunger Mute instruments while the Trombone / Plunger KS includes the Trombone mute KS with the Trombone Plunger Mute. Lastly the Bass Trombone KS includes the Bass Trombone mute KS with the Tuba.

Tom,

Installation instructions (http://sites.google.com/site/mikesk2scripts/phrase-modeled-performance-multi/installation)

Usage (http://sites.google.com/site/mikesk2scripts/phrase-modeled-performance-multi/overview/using-the-multi)

Just load the multi in the K2 player as you would load any of the multis included with the Garritan Libraries. Per channel send a Program Change message that corresponds to the loaded instrument and set a cc11 value and your good to go

Hello

I would be interested to try the demo, but I can't get it working. By following the instructions I have so far managed to install a UserPatches folder in the K2 directory. However, I am not able to see anything of this when I open K2. Please explain what

This will install the multi .nkm files to the K2 Players Multi folder and the convolution preset .nkp files to
the K2 Players presets\effects\convolution folder

means.

Hi Mike,
I am using PMPM Jabb Quintet multi (i've tried all the multis that come the download) with theK2 player(2.2.4.001)
and I am getting a latency issue. When I press a key there is a slight delay.
I've tried the JABB patches without the Multi and they work fine no latency is there something i'm not setting up?
I'm using sonar 7 with ASIO drivers on PC XP pro -4gig ram amd dual core
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,GsPop

Hi Mike,

You helped me set up a previous version of the PMPM in Band in a Box a while back, but I never really understood how to use it. I am interested in getting the new version if it can do what I think it can. Can you help me? I have the following questions:

·Do I understand the purpose of the PMPM correctly to provide a more “human” touch to midi performances such as those contained in a midi file (as opposed to those that are created in real time using midi controllers)?
·I have the JABB library and would like to use it to create big band and solo instrument arrangements of jazz standards. If I create a standard midi file of a song and then run it through Kontakt (I’m currently using Reaper as my DAW), will using the PMPM result in a more believable performance?
·Is it easy (for a newbie) to control the amount of vibrato, growl, etc.?
·If I have a midi file with a brass section (including several saxes, let’s say) having each instrument on a separate midi channel, would I need to run each midi channel through a single instance of Kontakt running the PMPM?
·Finally, do you know if JABB runs in Kontakt 3.5? I currently have the full version of 3.5 running, but can revert to KP2 Player if necessary.

Thanks in advance! I will likely subscribe once I get your responses.
