Love that quote from Tchaikovsky. He rarely had anything nice to say about other composers - especially his contemporaries.

Brahms is one of my favs. As is Tchaikovsky. both were, despite what Tch. said, very gifted. enough that we are still talking about them and playing and listening to their music today.
