I am thinking of buying a cd w/ ethnic loops and was wondering what you guys
thought. Several of you mentioned Marc Anderson\'s ACID cd. I was wondering
if there are others. I listened to the demos on the sonic foundry site and
here is the thing:

The types of ethnic percussion I like are the really hypnotic, trance-like
ones. You know the type of beat that relaxes you. I don\'t like the funky
kind with really fast hits. The marc anderson demos I heard sounded pretty
cool, but there were these faster elements that counteracted the sound I am
after. Are the demos representative of the whole cd? Are there cd\'s that
specifically contain the slow tempo, hypnotic, steady, relaxing beats I am
after? Basically I like a tempo of around 80 BPM or so. I like to 16th note
triplets or 32nd note slurs here and there to segue into downbeats, etc to
make the groove active. But I like the underlying groove to be
slow/rhythmic/hypnotic/etc.

Depending on what kind of ethnic loops/percussion you are looking for, there are a few choices - Marc Anderson is good, the new Rapoon:Sci-Fi Tribal is also cool. You might also want to look into Spectrasonic\'s Heart of Africa and Heart of Asia or Ilio\'s Ethno Techno and Ethnicity CD\'s - these come as CD-ROMS or as audio CDs too.
