Just thought I would post old ideas using the current GPO/jabb(or whatever, it works with just about anything with Gary's stuff!)..

I made this a while back and was going to extend it quite a bit but it got dropped somewhere in "time" and I intended to add more tricks I had learned but I just did not get around to it. Anyway here is a few tricks I learned. Alot of this I had employed in the RK book consistantly. Alot is "illusion" workarounds and not meant to look "realistic/pretty" on paper.

I encourage anyone to post things they have learned. if I had time I would add more to it, but atm that is not possible. So I figured instead of this sitting on my hard drive backup, someone somewhere may get some use out of it:)

Really great ideas cantabile. I couldn't get the
examples to play back. Each time I clicked on
the player icon, a rectangular "sizing" icon would
appear.

Thanks for the ideas though.

Great stuff, Robert!!

I may put it to an acid test when I recreate some old-time band music, including one of those ol' warhorse euphonium solos with triple-tonguing!!

Thanx...Jim W.

Here I will insert the MP3s in order in which it was read.

Machine gun flutes no change(let same sample repeat)

Flutes with the illusion of different samples played(temporarily note switching between players)
http://home.cfl.rr.com/delly/flutes%20alternative%20to%20machine%20gun(temp%20n ote%20switching).mp3
Same Idea with trumpets
http://home.cfl.rr.com/delly/avoid%20machine%20gun%202%20trumpets+ag%20overlay. mp3
Using JABB Flugels to crossfade into GPO Trumpets and overlay(illusion of soft to BRIGHT)
http://home.cfl.rr.com/delly/Flugal%20to%20Trumpets%20JABB%20GPO%20crossfade(em ulate%20softer%20trumpets).mp3
Example used in a real situation for the RK course(4 trumpets used to alternate notes for only 2 trumpets)
http://home.cfl.rr.com/delly/RK%20reference%20avoiding%20machine%20gun.mp3

This can work with any instrument that has more then one option of PLR patches. It is an illusion but it sounds so much better then repeating the same sample! If they are chromatically sampled you can use round robin type things(however most libraries do not come with so many players!). So in alot of cases one may be stuck with a repeating sample if they prefer(like me) to use seperate players as opposed to sections, so the alternative is a temporary note switching. Really makes the GPO/jabb/etc shine.
Unfortunately some tricks involve owning more then GPO(the "emulation/illusion" of soft trumps to loud using flugels from JABB in this) However it is funny all the little things you discover to do to work around stuff!

If anyone else has good ideas please post them. I have much more and wonder if I should post them.

Yes, you should. End of discussion. :)

PS--I *was* able to get to the mp3s from the document.

http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/image.php?u=4496&dateline=1212036288 I really think you should get that lanced soon before it becomes a permanent fixture. Or, is already? :D

Ya still got that shoe stuck in there?

Your not seriously thinking of going scuba diving with that thing, are ya?

Point that in another direction. Can't you see it's causing a category 5 hurricane?

Play something we can dance to.

That was a nasty trick someone putting super glue on your valve buttons.

How's that sound under water?

Somewhere some cruse ship is missing an air intake on deck.

If you had two of them you could do Mac horn blasts.

OK, enough of this silly carp. Get it lanced. :D
