I recently installed GPO vs. 3, KP 2.2.4.001 on my computer. I also bought a sustain pedal for my MIDI keyboard in order to be able to use the legato option. But now I am somewhat confused about what the manual says about switsching between "legato mode" and "sustain mode":

"To play sustain instruments, such as the piano, "Normal Sustain/Sostenuto Operation" must be selected under Options/General (under the Load button). To return to legato mode, the Sustain/Sostenuto Pedal Mode has to be set to the second choice on the list which is "No Sustain/Sustenuto Operation", but MIDI controller. "

My problems:

(1) I simply can't find "Options/General under a Load button" in KP, not to speak of "Sustain/Sostenuto Pedal Mode", so I don't get anywhere.

(2) What on earth is meant by the latter sentence? "but MIDI controller"?? (english is sometimes quite difficult for us foreigners... :wow:)

Hey Bernt, Welcome! :)

In GPO, both legato and sustain functions are using MIDI CC64.

First, you'll find this option by clicking the Gears button at the top left of the loaded instrument. In the menu that pops up, select the "Controller" tab - the first line changes how the sustain pedal works - the 3 options being:

-Sustain Pedal + Controller (Sustain + CC)
CC64 (from your pedal) will activate both sustain and Continuous Controller functions (Legato)

-Sustain Pedal without Controller (Sustain w/o CC)
CC64 will activate the sustain function but not Continuous Controller functions (Legato)

-Controller Only (CC Only)
CC64 will not activate the sustain function, but WILL activate Continuous Controller functions (Legato)

So in the case of the piano, the legato function does not apply, so you set the piano patch to use the second option. A violin would use the last option because it is not an instrument capable of sustaining its sound.
