Since there are tons of string things happening I thought I would do a quick demo using some the Prosonus strings. These strings are really versatile and sit really good in the mix.

What Damon means is, perhaps you should also post some more conventional string demos. That\'s what most people want to hear.
Nice strings fx, though.

Well there aren\'t any \"FX\" in the demo. Everything is from multisamples.

I havent heard this demo yet, but I know the Prosonus strings and the marcatos will be a nice complement to GOS. Donnie, when will this be out and at what price?

Simon,
I posted a comment about your GOS Demos (GOS Forum)
I hope you had the chance to read it.
Great work!

I know, but the strings play \"effects\", right? Col legno, etc.?

Hey guys,
The library is already availible in giga from Big Fish. The whole orchestra is only $299 so it\'s a great deal anyway you look at it. The strings alone are worth it. Here\'s a demo I did awhile back that has more instruments in it.

I think this really shows off the strings pretty well.

I just want to add:
Donnie,
I like everything you have done with this library. demos)
The Brass/Strings have character, IMO.
If you have the time...could you slap together something using woodwinds?
Really would like to hear the Flute and English Horn. Also, is there solo and ensemble samples of all, or?
It seems to me that this is a great addition to the tool box for a great price.

Ugh,...I don\'t hear strings, just a high string and col legno FX.
I heard your other demos on the site though Mr.Smarty Man.
Is that perhaps the John Cage Prepared Piano in the \"Eerie Strings\" demo as well?

Maybe that\'s what you get when a percussionist puts together a string demo!
C\'mon guys! Not this again . . . please!!!
BTW, for more \"conventional\" writing (though not what some of you might call it), listen to his Adagio demo, which compositionally is very interesting. Did you notice how the Adagio and the Eerie Strings demos start on the same sustained pitch? Must have some sort of motivic significance for him! http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif
Donnie: The Adagio\'s initial pitch is a tad softer or muted than that of the Eerie Strings demo. Is that a Sordino patch?

That was a JOKE not an invitation for the flames to begin. http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif
It\'s just the demo features more perc than strings. That\'s all.

Ha Ha Ha.....
The \"idea\" guys was to show the tremelo violins and some of the other articulations of the strings. The Adagio demo, which yes, I, a dumb percussionist wrote http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif shows more tradtitional string lines.

Hi Donnie, I\'ve been waiting for this library. I have the Prosonus strings for Roland from waaaay back and they are great.
I asked this before, but please, if you could find out: Does this orchestral collection contain ALL the patches from the original Prosonus STRINGS library?
They used to release (probably still do) Prosonus Strings and Prosonus Orchestra. The Strings CD was choc-FULL of choices, especially FX. What I want to know is when you buy the ORCHESTRAL CD, are you getting ALL of what is on the seperately released STRINGS CD?

The addagio demo aahhh. Nice... Strings+harp+horns are good. Have you done anything nifty programwise Donnie? Keyswitching to change articulations, combined the piano+forte patches - anything?
And Francis: Yes I did read it - thanks for your comments!

Simon,
Actually no nothing special. As I was telling Pat_S at NAMM that was a perfect example of dumb luck. I was doodling around the keyboard and just got real lucky that day. It\'s one of my fav\'s too!

Hey Donnie,
These Prosonus Strings do have a beautiful character and very nicely capture the intonation of strings. My gosh, they are truly one heck of a bargain considering their price.

Hi Donnie,
If you are throwing a demo together, how about some Vivaldi? Jerome Kern would be nice too!!
Donnie:
I just saw the instrument list for the Prosonus Orchestral Collection (see the list below). Are the \"Orchestra\" patches in unison?

Pat,
I\'m not really sure what you mean...can you elaborate?
Thanks,
Donnie
I saw two instrument names--String Orchestra and Brass Orchestra--in the list (see above; I just pasted in the list and removed the link). So, for example, does String Orchestra comprise cellos, violas, and violins playing together in unison (within the limits of each instrument\'s range)? Or if I play C4 on the keyboard, will I hear C4, C3, C5, etc. simultaneously?

Nice demo Donnie, the Adagio. Didn\'t hear it before.
Strings sound pretty good!
Brass too.
I know, another request, but I would like to hear some shorter articulations, faster passages.

Maarten....Thanks! and I\'ll see if I can mock up something quick this afternoon. Any requests?
Robert....As far as I know it contains everything from the original recordings. I just went in and cleaned things up a bit and re eq\'ed some things. I would contact Big Fish and ask them if it contains everything your looking for. Since I didn\'t have the old version I\'m not 100% sure. There are tons of FX though. That I can tell you for sure!

The prosonus lib is one of my most usefull collections. The marcato is the best I have and heard. The little introduction demo on my web site just happens to make good use of the Prosonus lib (marcato mostly) for that number. Take a listen if you are interested.

Haven\'t really heard the new Prosonous library, but I still love the old one. I used the marcato strings and the brilliant string FX in a score for a recent film. I\'ll quite happily post anyone a clip from the score where I use it if they want to hear it. The marcato gives such a wonderful impression of a string orchestra and blends so nicely with everything else.
