dual or quad core

I am going into a computer store tomorrow to get a new computer. (after my previous supplier failed me)

I will be getting 4 gig of RAM, 500g hard drives, and a minimum of 2.53 gHz.

My final question - can Finale and Garritan programs utilize quad core or should I stick with dual core.

It appears that a dual core with a higher CPU speed will work better for sample library plugins. Use a quad core if using a large amount of effects plugins such as reverbs, compressors, etc. Also, I've read quite a few posts of users have more issues with the quad cores especially for things like video editing.
