Well, fooey...
I was supposed to Leave Indianapolis at 8:50 this morning. It is now 11:50 and the plane is still on the ground due to some freezing problem in the engine.
There are no other connections for at least 24 hrs to LAX, and I can't reroute for at least 24 hrs...since I had to leave LA on Sunday, I just scrapped the whole thing. No NAMM for Snorlax this year:(.
I just texted Gary with the bad news.
I'd say shed a tear for ol' Snorlax, but if you are in Indianapolis, the tear will freeze.
Fooey...or as they say in Dutch, foei!

FWIW I hate flying, they always seems to be some stupid excuse for not being on time or even not going. I have to fly to London a couple of times a year, its a business flight but they are always stranding people. I went by train last time, much better only twice as long (if you include check in, check out, check up, cheque handed over) and the BREAKFAST on the train was AMAZING !!!!.
Sorry to hear it Jim, what a bummer.

Wow! I don't know which is worst - missing NAMM or having to stay home during this Arctic cold snap. :( I hope the euphonium valves don't freeze up. Sorry for the bad turn of events, Jim.

Oh Jim . . . This is very sad news!! I was looking forward to read about NAMM from the SNOR perspective. . . . :(
Hopefully next year! (?) And hopefully this crazy weather is warmer next year!

I'm sorry you're missing NAMM. I'm glad, though, that you are "not leaving" from Indy, rather than from LaGuardia . . . you might have been on the plane that landed in the Hudson!
I'll shed a tear for you . . . but indoors, 'cause below-zero temps here, too, would have the tears becoming "eyeciles."
Best,
Joe

I have a reply, but in this thread, but it needs to be approved first, and I think all the moderators are busy at the NAMM. :P

Ern,
Don't come on Monday! The show ends on Sunday at 5:00 pm.
BTW, the NAMM show is going okay so far. Quite a bit of excitement for the Basic version of the Steinway.

I was so looking forward to getting together at NAMM. The place was buzzing about a possible harp and euphonium duet. Rumors circulated throughout the convention. This was anticipated to be the surprise hit of the show.*()
But it was not meant to be this year. Maybe the music world was not quite ready yet. The Snorlax fan club will not get to see you gyrate your hips while wailing on an EWI.
I now wonder what NAMM could have been if only you were here.
Glad you're okay and that your plane did not land in the Hudson like another unfortunate flight today.
All the best,
Gary

Rick,
Thanks for coming by today and hope to get to see you more at the show. We have a few more surprises :) We do miss Snor and I was wondering if you can play euphonium in his place.
Best,
Gary

I knew about that plane. It was in the back of my mind.
When I got to talk with Gary, I asked if he had seen you yet. This is what he said to me (no lie).
"Jim's plane had engine trouble... he didn't make it."
My face went ashen and I reeled a little bit and asked "What?"
"Yes, read his text on my Blackberry."
It was then I knew. Oy. I thought I was in a scene out of "Arrested Development" for a minute there.

Can you see him pleading with the Captain:
But my children are still on there, you've simply got to get them off! There's lil' Euph and his brother Phonium!
Or standing by the door playing a Grand March as others de-planed!
The Captain is evidently very skilled . . . and at ease in a crisis.
