I'll bet there are only four (length, width, height and time) but because someone screwed up a calculation early on, they've been adding "dimensions" to try to make it fit the original screwed up calculation.
(I have no proof, just an opinion. Let's just say that it wouldn't surprise me if it were so.)

The easiest way to understand is to examine the spin of particles.
Imagine a basketball.
If you turn it on its axis 180 degrees, it looks the same. It is therefore symmetrical at 180 degrees. It is also symetrical at 360 degrees.
Now put a piece of gum on the basketball and spin it 180 degrees. It is not symmetrical to the original because the gum is not in the same spot.
Now put a ? on the basketball. The ? makes it so that when spinned 360 degrees the end reult is not symmetrical to the original, But if we spin it another 360 degrees, it is.
So when we put ? on the ball we have to spin the ball 720 degrees to get back to where we started.
10 dimensions would be nice, but very doubtful. 11 works in many ways as do 26 dimensions.
Personally, I think there are an infinite number of dimensions and once we get high enough up in them we end up where we started.
We just don't realize we are at the beginning.
The other way to look at it is to believe that some poeple get paid just to think of things that perhaps are better unthought.

Gah... this video has so many problems with it. The dimension of time is not like a spacial dimension, visualizing it as such causes problems. It shouldn't even really be called the "4th dimension" :wow:
Also, "flatlanders" should not be seeing two dimensions, they should be seeing one, which we can't even visualize. We in 3D world see two dimensions, only perceiving three with visual cues. And much of our perception of the 3D world consists of how 2D images change when we move or the world around us moves.
Also, God does not play dice. :D

Also, God does not play dice. :DHe does, but he cheats... ;)
It's not cheating if it's His dice.:)
