I congratulate Garritan on their acquisition of the Giga technology and am confident that it will mean even better things for the Garritan community.

However, I do hope that all of the excitement surrounding this addition will not delay the things in the pipeline that many of us have been patiently awaiting for months; i.e. the new GPO, the Choir library, the Organ library, the new GOS. GEM, and some others I may have missed. Maybe there are plans to integrate some of these with future GIGA technology, creating new libraries, and that is fine. But many of us have been waiting with bated breath for these other libraries. Please, Gary, don't let these get shoved to the back of the pipeline.

Thanks for listening.

Yes please don't delay the new ARIA GPO.
I'm glad you got the Giga Stuff and I can see how that will only help Garritan prosper in the future, but lets get that ARIA GPO out and then make an updated version next year with all the Giga goodies. Yes it can even be a
paided update.

Mwaaahahaha ....

You uncovered my dasterdly plot. It was all a ruse. There was no GPO, not ARIA, no organ library, no choir.... only NEWTs. Hahahaha.......

CURSE YOU GARRITAN, You were warned to get off those lactic acid libations. Now it's six months in the cooler or the release of GPOA and GOSA, whichever comes first.
Back, back. Get back to your cell....

When NAMM ended I spent every day, all day, for three weeks, at my computer and this forum waiting for the update because they said it would be released shortly after NAMM.

I own Giga Studio and Giga Ensemble, and can't use either of them because they wouldn't validate at the Giga site. I tried for months to get help from tech. support, but to no avail.

If anything I have been waiting for gets derailed for that garbage (to me!) I will be very unhappy, and will let everyone know it. If buying those assets means that down the road I'll be able to actually use it I'll be overjoyed, but for my money I'd rather see ARIA and be able to use a more flexible interface. I might even be willing to give away GS (3) with its ugly cigar box and manuals if it means I'd see GPO ARIA sooner.

For anyone thinking about getting Gary and his crew to take ten seconds away from ARIA to do anything with the Giga technology, be forewarned: I command a potent Starship, and will bombard you with Mongo Viruses (and Virii, too!) from Outer Space.:n::n::n:

Thus Spake Me!

You know with all these projects, not to mention Gigastudio, does anybody wonder how much downtime Tom has??? Hmmmmm... I hope he has plenty of help....

Seriously, I need to reload my machine, and I've been waiting on Aria (I'm GPOless at the moment). I would hate to load my Kontakt version of GPO just to have Aria come out two days later. Or two years later as I'm beginning to fear. :)

Same here. I'm hesitant on installing that Kontakt "thing" in my new machine. I'd like to install GPO ARIA only.

I got fed up of computer problems with my music softwares in my old Dell so I bought a Music XPC computer. They are built and optimized for music softwares. I'm trying to install as less programs as possible in it.

I want to do music, not troubleshoot computers...

Any dates Mr. G-ARIA-tan?

NeoDavinci, when you say, "...(I'm GPOless at the moment). I would hate to load my Kontakt version of GPO just to have Aria come out two days later..." I guess you mean that you've never installed the current GPO--?

If you have installed it - I don't quite get why you would hesitate to use it. I have projects that need to be done, and since KP2 has always worked for me very well--I'm happily still using it, with the entire line of Garritan Libraries loading up and ready for me each time I start a project.

In my case, I bought GPO and it came with a sampler version of Kontakt. I also bought JABB, CMB, Golriller Solo Cello and Stradivari Solo Violin. For whatever reason about the time I was getting ready to put my new computer together, Kontakt simply stopped working. I tried to reload it, but it would not allow that. I contacted Kontakt and they simply said that version was only a sample and should not have been expected to last forever. So, to keep things going I would have to put out a couple of hundred dollars - which makes no sense when ARIA GPO will probably cost quite a bit. Therefore, I too am GPO-less.

Now I can certainly write with Finale 2009 (and I love it) and will wait for ARIA GPO - but I am amassing quite a library of music that needs the larger GPO library and choir as well.

Hi Randy,

I bought GPO when it first came out and have consistently used it. Every time I've moved to a new machine though, reauthorizing Kontakt and getting things configured has been a nuisance. GPO itself is not exactly a quick install. I'd rather not get everything working with Kontakt again then and have a new product with a new sample set and player to install and configure that completely replaces the old product. Admittedly, I will install Kontakt for other samples though so maybe I'm stalling for relatively little benefit.

Hi, Mark "NeoDavinci" - Setting things up anew when we get new computers is rather a pain, I sympathize.

I think you came up with a good plan at the end of your new post - To go ahead and get Kontakt on your new system, because it will be some time before the other Garritan Libraries are moved into Aria. If you have JABB and/or CMB, you'll still need Kontakt to play those for some time to come.

Tom - Your post really has me perplexed. What you describe - ?! -

A "sampler" version of Kontakt which stopped working? And NI said it "was on a sample"--? You'd have to spend hundreds of $ to get things working?

This isn't right. Something's very screwy there. --GPO was first hosted in Kontakt Player 1. It wasn't just a "sample" of Kontakt, it was the player that played the Garritan Libraries - it never expired.

If someone didn't upgrade their GPO, it would still play in KP1 - I have the old version still on my computer for when I want to re-visit pre-KP2 projects.

But of course KP1 was upgraded to KP2 and is still the engine for driving all the Garritan instruments. Upgrading GPO to the KP2 version didn't cost GPO 1 owners anything. All of the Libraries had their upgrade paths at NI - And it's all working.

I hope someone sees this post and helps you get it straightened out. You have Libraries which will still need KP2 for some time, so you should have those working, since you paid for them, and it's possible to get them all working even in our pre-ARIA world.

Thanks Randy for you help and comments. I could not have said it better myself. Hopefully things will get easier for people when we move to the ARIA player.

Thanks again,

Randy, I'm somewhat in the same boat as NeoDavinci. I don't have GPO Kontakt and I don't want to get it either. I want the ARIA version. Why not get the Kontakt version now? Because that would mean I need to learn how to use Kontakt only to find out a month or so later that I need to learn the ARIA engine and quit the Kontakt one.
Doesn't make sense.
I'm waiting for the ARIA GPO and will only use that version.

Hiya, Gary - I do what I can! It's great to see how much anticipation there is for Aria. From indications so far, I have the impression the learning curve will be much easier for people than it's been previously.

And hello, yairhol. I guess you mean that you don't own GPO yet at all, otherwise you'd already be dealing with Kontakt - it's the only player GPO has ever played in.

A friendly reminder - JABB and CMB, extremely useful Garritan Libraries, will eventually be updated to work in Aria, but that's still in the future. For someone to take full advantage of the complete Garritan line, using KP2 will be part of the routine for awhile to come.
