Howdy. :n: (there's no cowboy emote)

I need your help on this one! In the past, I've found that playing any notes on any instrument in Kontakt or KP2 standalone (only) have sounded a weird, gross, distortion, crackle thingy, the note barely recognizable. It's... something. But I've never really cared since I'd never use those in standalone. Now I'd like to use ARIA in standalone, but those annoying crackles are still there.

Anyone ever had this problem, or any thoughts? I'd really appreciate your responses.

Hi Daniel,

Crackling and popping are common symptoms of an insufficient audio driver buffer size, though they may also stem from an underpowered CPU or interfering background processes such as virus scanning.

What is your computer, what sound card do you have, and what is reported under the tools-> preferences dialog inside Aria?

Hi Reegs,

Thanks for your fast response.

I have a Gateway PC, Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor 1.8 GHz, 2GB RAM, Vista 32-bit, Realtek HD Audio.

The ARIA preferences:
Audio Device API: MME
Audio Device: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output
Stereo Pair: 1-2
Sample Rate: 44100Hz
Buffer Size: 4096

The least you should do is change your MME option to ASIO if available for your REaltek HD. If not find on Google ASIO4ALL, download and install.

Gday DanielB,

Consider an audio interface with an ASIO driver.

Downloaded ASIO4ALL, it's working now.

Thanks a bunch!
