We're focusing on JABB and it is in the works. I won't say it's imminent but it is going well :D

Thanks for that Gary! A few more questions about the up and coming JABB for the Aria player? Are the memory requirements for the new JABB/Aria player going to be more or less and will the samples have the capability of being streamed from the disk?

Will this JABB ARIA player cost $$?
Will it allow both usage of JABB and the GPO included with FINALE 2009 (at the same time!)?
Will it be downloadable from the Garritan site, or will I be traumatized by Germans (Native instruments are restless!)?
Sorry for all the questions...Just excited to get your string sections combined with your Jazz brass to get some CROONER tunes-a-croon'n.
I'm guessing that JABB will not work with the ARIA player included with FINALE 2009? BUT IF THERE"S A WAY, LET ME KNOW - THANKS!

After yet another frustrating evening spent with Kontakt (using the new 3.5 reader), I'm begging you: please finish the JABB implementation for Aria! Please!

Gary, any update on the update to Aria for JABB? It's been nearly two months since any posts on this topic, and it seems it's been imminent for some time. (Brings back memories of the wait for the KP2 version...)

Gary,
Any update here I am seeing in other forums as we are going to 64bit Windows 7 the Jazz Big Band is broke in Sonar? The fix seems the new Kontact Player but then there are velocity questions. As we are bulding out new DAW due to Windows 7 and 64bit to get the memory we need we would really need this.
Thanks,
Steve

Any further update on the ARIA player version of JABB? It was in final beta in October - I was under the impression release was imminent. It's hard to believe more folks aren't clamoring for this...

I saw a post on another thread that said a user had received an email stating that the ARIA versions of JABB (and Marching Band) will soon be available. This was from January 2010 - so that seems to be good news! Any official word? Maybe an ETA?

Hi Bob,
I too am chomping at the bit for the Aria flavor of JABB (I think there's a few more of us out there too :)), but unfortunately I don't know any more about a release date than you do.
I'm not trying to be cavalier, but do you already own the KP2 version of JABB? I do and am using it daily and as much as I feel the Aria version will probably be a more efficient way to go, I don't feel like I'm loosing anything with this wait. To the best of my knowledge, they are not completely re-sampling everything in 32-bit; I'm guessing it will go something like the GPO4 upgrade.
I can't vouch for the pricing either, but I will assume it will be a reasonable up-grade price for those that already own JABB. What's a good alternative? At JABB's price point, absolutely nothing (and I am a big Giga holder). Yes, there's some very good, specialized, jazz-performed sample/synth instruments out there, but last I checked, just 3-4 instruments would be 2-3x JABB $$$. There's a library that costs 10x.
I know when Aria JABB finally comes due, I'm going to have to spend a bunch of time modifying all my Sonar templates to incorporate Aria (Ughhhh). But I really don't think we are missing a tremendous void until it's released.
I mean all this good spirited Bob; I just wanted to make sure you weren't holding off buying JABB in it's current KP2 version. ITMT, I can't wait for Aria JABB to come out either!
Regards,
Frank

I've owned every flavor of JABB. The Kontakt 2 player is a major crash-causer on the Mac with Logic, and has been for a long time. I've tried the newer Kontakt players and while they are better memory and crash-wise we lose features of JABB. I'm simply getting tired of waiting with no communication, looking for alternatives (as I'm sure are a *lot* of JABB users at this point.)

Hey Bob,
Thanks for clarifying. Now I can see your frustration ... I didn't realize you were on the Mac and also didn't realize JABB/KP/Logic is not as stable on one.
JABB via KP2 in Sonar8 along w/ Giga3 via ReWire in Sonar8 on my PC have all been rock-solid from day-one. My only problem seems to come if I have too much simultaneous pitch-bend at one time, which could also just be my PC and lack of RAM (Giga limits me to 2Gb).
Hey, I understand your frustrations now, and I also agree a brief up-date would be nice for Users like yourself living in Mac-land.
Good luck,
Frank

The ARIA version of JABB will be out soon. I was showing the almost complete version at NAMM last month.
I don't know of any alternatives to JABB that don't use Kontakt. You could mix and match libraries to make up the instruments in JABB but all the other libraries use Kontakt.

That's great news, but is there a specific date or timeframe for release? We've been hearing "soon" for almost a year.
(OT Question: How long do you have to be a member of these forums before you are no longer a "New Member"? I've had this account for almost 5 years. I searched the forums and there's no discussion of this and nothing in the FAQs either.)

The announcement will be real soon on the release of the ARIA version of JABB.
The player has a few enhancements from the GPO player including being able to make ensembles with a preset button just above the first instrument slot. Also, you can now click back and forth to the next patches in the banks without having to click on the instrument dropdowns.
The forum changes your status by the amount of posts. So you need to do more posting to change from New Member.

I just purchased the GPO4 upgrade and I am so pleased with the new ARIA engine. The samples load up instantaneously and there is so much less overhead than with the Kontakt player. Now I can use my internal sound card on my laptop and have ridiculous amounts of notes playing without clipping. MANY more than with the KONTAKT player.
My credit card can barely contain itself in my wallet - it's wants to now purchase the ARIA version of JABB :)!

We wait and wait and wait and wait.
Sorry to say but "ARIA version coming soon" is giving me a whole new feeling of time.
Maybe at Garritan they live i an other space time continuum.
Hope you will release it soon

Hallelujah! I've been checking every day--I saw it last night--I bought it (couldn't remember my password for the store! Horrifying ten minutes!), downloaded it--tried to drag PNG image to Aria (the quick start manual gave the solution: save to desktop, then drag, don't try to drag directly from email message), loaded some sounds...
This is frackin' great! Thank you, Gary, David and everyone else! A magnificent Passover present!
Kudos to Plogue for a great installation routine--it installed the 64-bit version in Program Files and automatically updated the Finale version with the 32-bit version in the Finale\VST folder!

I just wanted to confirm that JABB 3 does ship with the Aria Player. The information at the top of the JABB page still says "Coming Soon" and still makes references to the Kontakt player.
Thanks

Hello !!,
Do I have to un-install the previous version of JABB before installing the Aria upgrade ???
Thank you ,

No, you don't need to uninstall the previous version. They are 2 separate libraries using different engines and sample file formats.
I'd recommend keeping the old version if you want compatibility with older projects.

Purchased online,
downloaded,
registered with the key,
installed,
and am now enjoying a great library of sounds.
I loaded up some jazz ensemble and big band midi files into my sequencer (I have been using Reaper for quite some time now - Garritan works great with it) and assigned the appropriate instruments (I now have GPO and JABB in the drop down box to select from) and right out of the box it sounds great. Thanks to all involved for your excellent work!
Thanks again.

I've searched but cannot locate an ARIA manual either installed with JABB or GPO or available online. Is there such a beast? I know there are pages dedicated to this in the GPO and JABB manuals, but they are incomplete concerning ARIA.
In particular, something covering the various menu options (i.e. "Preferences") or the various parts of the player itself (it took me while to figure out that the little light bulbs in the lower right corner were pedals - not mentioned anywhere...)
Perhaps we need a new category here specifically for the ARIA player? (not under JABB or GPO?)

Hi Bob,
First chance I've had to answer your question regarding the manuals. You may have to do some searching on your hard drive, but somewhere you should have two folders with Garritan Personal Orchestra 4.0 and JABB, each with the appropriate manuals. However, in case they aren't there, below are links you can download the manuals for both. The manual for GPO4 is latest edition. Hope this helps.

As I mentioned, I've seen those pages, but they are far from complete or comprehensive. I was looking for an ARIA player manual, not GPO or JABB manual. I take it no such thing exists?
