AI: I was going to recommend looking at the Griffin Firewave, which I've found affordable and which does the job. But I've just looked at their website, and it seems to be discontinued. So I'll leave it to others for rcommendations.

USB is adequate for audio, so I'd choose your AI and use whichever connection it wants.

Connection: My AI has minijack outputs and my monitors have RCA inputs; I simply use a minijack to RCA adapter. Works fine.
