For those of you who remember me (limerick-hound), I had a rough year. Lost my mother last year, wrote a Requiem, just lost another close friend, was terrified that my heartless insurance company would take my disability benefits from me, and basically let most everything go. But I am back. I missed you all, and thank you to those of you who wrote and/or talked with me through some difficult times.
Next year, plans are in the works to do a concert of my music with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs and the Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble, two very well-respected ensembles hereabouts, including the Requeim in its entirety. I am very excited about this.
I will gradually get more back into the swing of things, including this forum. At a time when I mostly got skepticism about being a composer from folks who (I think) ought to have at least given me a listen or the benefit of the doubt, you all were there to give me the confidence and guidance to proceed. Now, I have music in the hands of three of our pre-eminent local conductors, have performed here and there around town, made an "official" CD (more to come), am a finalist in the Moondance Film Festival composer category and have had several pieces performed here and there elsewhere in the country.
You all gave me the support and confidence to get through a rough time and come out fighting. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Though I was silent for over a year, the friends I have made here were never far from my heart.
I'd better stop before I start to cry.
Bless you all.
Karen
