Is there any special reason why there is
an
ARIA Player Multi VST_x86.dll
and an
ARIA Player VST_x86.dll ?

Yes, Robert:

ARIA Player Multi VST_x86.dll has 16 stereo audio outs available, intended for users of sequencers like Sonar and Cubase.

ARIA Player VST_x86.dll has only 1 stereo out, intended for users of notation programs like Sibelius and Finale.
