Yamaha UX16 MIDI Interface Cable ???

Hi

I recently purchased a Yamaha UX16 MIDI interface cable for connection from my digital piano to a Macbook OS X v10.5. I first installed the drivers then launched GarageBand to try and play the software but nothing plays, I checked all ports connections and cables and everything is in place. However when I tried to open the MIDI interface icon to check out the patch preferences it confirmed..

can not open Yamaha USB MIDI patch preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel based Mac. Does this mean I’ve purchased an interface cable that is not compatible with a Mac ? or is there something else I need to figure out ?

It's not a simple cable: it has a MIDI interface built into it. I would say: install the new drivers, restart and try again.

You where right! it was a driver issue, silly me, all is fine now.:)
