Hi!
Does anybody know how to get vibrato on the flutes in JABB3? I tried all of the controllers. None seem to work.
Thanks
:)
John B.
I believe the vibrato flute instruments are in GPO, not JABB.

So, I guess jazz flautists never use vibrato. ;)
Thank you for your response, sir.:D

I didn't think jazz jazz flautists played long enough notes to warrant using vibrato!
If you don't have GPO and its not worth your while buying it yet, if you can provide a MIDI file for the flute line, someone could render this to a .wav file for you using the GPO vibrato flute patch.
(That's quite legal I'm sure, I think DPDan did it for someone once.)
I'd be happy to do this for you over the weekend unless someone wants to volunteer to do it sooner for you.

That's OK. Thanks anyway. I appreciate the offer, my friend, but I have a decent flute sound in Mixcraft, which I used. It's just that I don't think I've ever heard of flute w/o vibrato, even in jazz.
New one!;) JB

Flute vibrato amount is controlled by aftertouch. Does you keyboard have aftertouch?

Which command # is that?

Aftertouch isn't a normal Controller like volume or pan. It's more along the line of the pitch bend wheel.

I don't have a mod wheel or pitch bend but I do have access to those commands through automated mixdown in my sequencer.
Thanks Jim!

Some useful info maybe: Aftertouch is how much you press the key after hitting it. However you need a keyboard that provides this sort of information.
Alternatively you can draw some aftertouch data in your DAW. Typical aftertouch data looks like a little mountain while the note is on, and it will go back to zero in a slope before the note ends.

That's the way I do it in lieu of a modulation wheel. I just need to know the CC numbers. Thank you, my friend. BTW-I've been trying to remember the CC number for damper/sustain pedal for piano, but I'm at a loss. For some reason, it's not marked as such on the chart in my sequencer, but I DID use it once on a test run I deleted. I'd be much obliged if you (or anyone) could refresh my memory on that.

Probably CC#64.

Hi, the aftertouch has its own category of data, it is not a cc. Just like velocity or pitchbend. You should find one it right where you find the other two, if not then this could be a restriction of your sequencer program. I am using Reaper and there it is featured.

The previous posters who identified "Aftertouch" as the controller for vibrato intensity are correct. The name for aftertouch data varies with different sequencers. It can be called "Aftertouch," "Channel Pressure," or something similar. Also, vibrato speed is adjusted with cc17.

I just bought the package, but I'm struggling with vibrato on EWI USB.
Actually biting should control vibrato intensity and speed as well, but there is no single controller I could use for that, so I only can map biting to pitch bend which is I think not the really appropriate way of getting a vibrato.
Am I missing some points? What is the intended way of getting vibrato with a EWI?

The results aren't ideal for flute because flute vibrato favors amplitude modulation over pitch modulation; the bite sensor will only modulate pitch with the existing programming. Aftertouch/cc17 are for sequencing only. Perhaps one day I will have the time to program a version of the libraries to specifically address wind controllers like the EWI (since I'm an EWI player too :)).

Thank you for the answer. Amplitude vibrato can be done quite well just by breathing, also setting the Bite AC Gain helps getting better results.
I was only concerned about "sampled" vibrato, I mean if vibrato is not amplitude+pitch modulation but also something else.
