Hi All,
I\'m hoping some of you might have some insights into a resolution to my problem.
I have GigaSampler and cannot start it
successfully. The program consistently crashes with \'illegal page fault in mfc42.dll\' in the second step (scanning disks) of the startup routine.
Hardware: Gateway 1GHz Athlon, 256Meg ram,
30Gig hard drive, Frontier WaveCenter PCI,
SoundBlaster Live (disabled), Win98r2,
internal modem (not connected). No other
software installed (beyond the stuff pre-
installed by Gateway -- hard to see what
could lead to a failure in the microsoft
foundation classes).
I can\'t even register because the crash
occurs before successful launch...
Got through to tech support once and Dave
sent the patch to update to 1.6, apparently
required for the WaveCenter. Didn\'t help.
No response to emails to Nemesys; you guys
are my last hope!
Thanks!
Bill

Sometimes during the install process, the wrong version of mfc42.dll ends up in the Windows\\System folder.

Do a search of your HD and find all copies of mfc42.dll. Place the one with the most recent date in \\Windows\\System.

That may well do it.

PS

If that doesn\'t work, pack your system up and send it to me!

Dave here. Sorry if you had a hard time getting through to us. I\'ll keep an eye out for your emails. Anyway, be sure that you have the latest (GSIF compatible) WaveCenter PCI drivers. (you may already of course) but a couple people had this problem and it turned out they were still using older drivers.
Talk to you soon
Dave

Sadly, updating the Frontier drivers made no
difference. The version of mfc42.dll is the latest installed on the machine.
Any other ideas? I\'m afraid my next step
will be to uninstall the WaveCenter and see
if it works with the SB Live. I\'d REALLY
like to avoid having to reinstall the whole
bloody OS, so any advice or help would be
great!
Thanks much,
Bill

Bill,

A couple of things to try:

make sure you have latest patch for GigaSampler. Go to our web site and get either v1.61 or v1.62 (LE users only).

If you have the latest version, then try
disabling all other sound cards, other than the Frontier card. I think the GPF is caused because there is DirectSound card in your machine conflicting with the Frontier.

Hope this helps
