just to let everyone know I have a PIII 550 with 256 megs of ram and two 13.5 gig ultra dma66 drives and I am getting the full 160 voices of polyphony. I definately don\'t say that to brag but I just want to let everyone know that it is possible.
This is awesome!!!!!! http://www.northernsounds.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif

Great news, Donnie!
Which Harddrive do you have?
Which soundcard?
Sequencer?
Can you record audio whilst playing Giga?
Do you have anything special tuned in Win98 to get 160 voices?
Users claim that they need PIII 700 for full 160 voices poly. You obviously have optimized PC.
Take care

Hey Donnie.
Thanks a lot for that info! That\'s a really great resource. I followed all of the opitmization techniques and it really helped out a lot. Unforunately I\'m running GSt on a lowly P2 400, so I\'m only getting about 100 voices, but it was only about 80 before optimizing!
The only step that I couldn\'t quite figure out was the \"disable windows animation using tweakui.exe\". I couldn\'t find the app. on the Microsoft site. Also, when reading up on the app, it said that it should only be used on win95 and not 98. Does this step make a big difference? Should I persue trying to disable this?
Thx,
Jamey

Hey Donnie - can you give us an idea of the load the FX put on your system?
I\'m assuming you weren\'t getting 160 voices with all the channels running NFX processing......
Again, thanks for the post

hmm, I\'m not sure how that first message got posted twice but....right now I am just using one master effect (reverb) for all 16 channels. I\'ll experiment some more with it later and let you know. Also another thing I would like to point out is that the memory allocation is MUCH better with gigastudio than it was with gigasampler. I can load lots more instruments with gigastudio. That to me is a huge help.

I have Tweakui and use it in Win98, no problem. Look on the Microsoft site for a bundle called \"power toys\"
