View Full Version : Miroslav strings v2.0 and Extended choir
Hi,
How well can s-converter convert Miroslav strings v2.0 AKAI rom?
And question for Holger...
Does \"Extended classical choir\" has separate instruments for sopranos, altos, basses....?
If not wich choir liberary does? I would like to build 4 tone chords with choir?
Thanks

Alex, we have just released the giga version
of the string ensembles, and wood&brass
ensembles for the Miroslav library.
If you still want to use the akai version
we recommend raising the velocity by
6 db all the way around.
Some release points may also need to be
adjusted, but those you would notice
right away if you\'ve heard the library before.
All around the s-converter does a great job.
You would not however, have the great programming of the native version.

No, the extended choirs has only mixed choir sounds like ohh, uhh, ... zzz and lots of effects. You have no transposition effects, because every key has a own sample, looped about 6 s !
Thanks to all,
Holger, one thing is still not clear...
If I load the bigest patch from extended choir and press c-1 will I hear all the choir sing c-1 or just the basses?
I mean whats the point if you can\'t write chords?

In the lower range there are only the basses, of course, the mid range is mixed male/female and the upper range is female. But you cant write a chord e.g. C2 - male, D#2 female or so. The choir is pre-mixed.
Thank you Holger,
Now it\'s all clear to me and I like it...
It sounds that the extended choir is the best choir liberary out there...
I was wondering is there a web site with lots of info like this dedicated to all Peter
Siedlaczek\'s products? Like the www.marcati.com (\"http://www.marcati.com\") for Miroslav(great web site IMHO)? I know for www.bestservice.de (\"http://www.bestservice.de\") but that\'s not the same thing..
Thanks,

Hi Peter -
One more question, please...
Is this native GS-version still with short loops
or did you really work over the complete samples
and make them longer before starting to repeat?
So I mean - did you only make a dedicated GS-Version
by using GS\'s performance-possibilities (like dimensions) or did you really enhance
the samples for streaming EndlessWaveTechn.?
Thanx in advance
Manfred

The strings and wood&brass ensembles
are not the looped only disks. That only
takes place in our mini disk. The mother
library offers both looped and un-looped
patches. We have taken advantage of the
new key switch technology with all instruments. A typical key switch would be,
long notes
Detache
Staccato
Long notes looped
Tremolo
Pizz
No Vibrato
No Vibrato looped
with - Mod wheel additional tremolo
footpedal- staccato
You\'ll have to forgive my lack of technical expertise in some of these \"Giga terms\"
such as the (wave tech stuff).
However the mechanical programming was
done by Dave Govett of Nemesys, with Miroslav
doing the musical editing. That to me translates into a quality disk.
Patches are re-edited and re-tuned to provide
the smooth transition between key switches.
What you can do with this , and how fast you can do it is a sight to marvel at. I was
very impressed in hearing this 2 disk set.
I myself have not seen a better combo in
sampler/samples.

to alex: I like the extended choir very much, but also great is the symphony of voices. The whole library has a natural, sometimes very mysterious sound and lots of special phrases, e.g. operatic lines or a boys choir. The only thing is the sometimes big sampling intervals which leads to strong transposition effects. But sounds great. Just 4 information!
Thanks Holger,
Is there an MP3 demo of extended classical choir on the net?
And could you tell me is it possible to load Advanced Orchestra full set in Gigasampler, and how much RAM would it be neaded for this?
Thanks,
Alex

there is a demo for the \"old\" classical choir, but the sound is very close. The extended version sounds a bit better, more brightness.
With a 256 Mb GS-machine you can load approx. 1300 stereosamples (GS needs a little ram to cach every sample.) So theoretically you can load the whole library at once!
Hello,
Holger,do you want to tell me that the whole AO with all the variations contains about 1300 samples??? Gigapiano contains about 800 samples and that is just one instrument...Please explain...I would like to know how much RAM and CPU power would I nead to load and run the complete Advanced Orchestra..
Thank you

no simple misunderstanding...
Extended choir contains approx. 1300 samples, SO more than 5000!
5000!!!
So basicly it is not possible to load the complete Advanced Orchestra on one computer?

presently, no. GS has a 256 Mb RAM limit in this version ( good for approx. 1300 stereo samples)
It’s not a hard and fast RAM limit, it just becomes somewhat unpredictable above that. The beta 1.61 is supposed to fix this problem.
But even if there was no 256Mb limit, maximum of 768Mb of RAM would still not be enough by my calculations...It seams that you would nead one machine with 768Mb and another one with 256Mb to load the full Advanced Orchestra...
Holger,
How do you propose to work around this limitation...Is it posible to work with Advanced Orchestra properly with only 256Mb of RAM?
If you could load the whole AO library into GS, you couldn\'t play that many instruments at the same time without voice-stealing anyway.
