Audition WAVs in Gigastudio

It\'s not meant to work the way you think it\'s supposed to. The \"Audition\" button does no such thing. Instead it ascertains whether a WAV file will be uploaded to the current selected channel or the next available channel.

There is currently no way of auditioning a WAV file within GigaStudio.

Not so... If you double click on a wav file, it\'s placed on the GSt \'virtual\' keyboard for audition.

Bill and gigaDiga are correct. Let me add a little more on auditioning of sounds:

Auditioning Gig files:

Use the \'Audition mode\' button to put the sampler in into auditioning mode. This means that every .gig instrument you load by double clicking will get loaded into the \'selected\'
midi channel (the one with highlighted green arrow). Note: the default behavior, ie non-audition mode, is to load instrument sequentially into unused midi channels. This feature is something that the early giga users had requested. It allows a musician to attach a midi controller to a single channel, quickly load an instrument to fixed channel, and audition the sound via the controller.

Auditioning wav files:

Use the Distributed wave view. Select the group of wave files you wish to audition from the QuickSound database view (the bottom view). Drag and drop them on the \'Distributed wave\'. The waves will get attached to the keyboard starting at the note indicated by the little green arrow (if you would like to move the arrow, use the mouse and the right mouse button). You can now audition the wavs via the virtual/physical musical keyboard.
Note: Distributed wave supports only 16-bit wavs.

After the initial grumbling about the lack of documentation and the subsequent touting of GSt’s online help system, it’s a little lame that there’s no help topic for the QuickSound toolbar…
