Sounds great! My wallet itches. The woodwind choir demo is still my favorite one..especially right at 0:14 when the bassoon comes in. Nice & full-sounding. Great job on these samples.

PS: Can we get a demo of the oboe by itself, playing in the low to mid range?

If Simon wants those, I want those too! images/icons/grin.gif

No seriously, I think they sound great specially when you consider the price. Quality + Fair price = Sale!

Tim, just a few more weeks then you will get some money out of my wallet. images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks for your reassurance guys. I\'m very picky about sounds so I\'m usually my own worst critic. It\'s nice to know you all like what you hear.

Thank you for putting up the recorder demo! That seals the deal. Top notch library from what I can hear. images/icons/smile.gif

the demos sounds good. Are there any plans to sample any staccatos?

Sounds good, but why isn\'t there any sign of the clarinet anywhere in those demos?

any reason why we can\'t buy these instruments as a download?

Probably because the total size is around 680MB, and if he offered it as a download, his bandwidth quota would be eaten up within a matter of a couple days.

it says \"full natural duration\" with no loops on your webpage. Do you have some numbers of how long this is exactly or is it just until your oboist turned blue in the face?? thx.

The clarinet is included in \"Cartoon\" and \"Woodwind choir\" demos. I\'ll put up a solo demo soon though.

Yes, it would be too large to download. And you\'d have to miss all the anticipation of waiting for that package to arrive.

I\'m certainly interested in creating a supplimental disc with additional samples if the sales warrant more recording sessions.

The sustains hold for between eight and ten seconds. I\'ve never had a problem with a note not being long enough.

Cool, I\'ll listen to those again.

I\'ve added another demo to the Westgate site. It is called Dark Winds. It focuses on the low range of clarinet, bass clarinet, and oboe. You should find it at about the middle of the woodwinds page.

I was wondering about the nylon guitar ( you know, real or sample?)in the recorder demo and then I read it\'s gonna be in the Free Gigs page soon. My question is: How soon is soon????
Timzydee, you\'re giving the best away, thank you.

Tim,

Are the woodwinds in mono? And, what reverb or (impulse) ambience have you appplied to the demos? How dry or ambient are the samples themselves?

Sounds all very interesting!

Cheers,

Jeez, Timzydee, free or not, I don\'t know if I really want your guitar, man!

Is that better?

The dark winds demo is great! Except from 0:22 to 0:27, there\'s quite a bit of dissonance and what seems to be flutter tongue. What\'s up w/ that? Is that coming from just the composition, or is something out of tune? (probably the former) Just checking. Man, these winds sound great.. the dark winds demo is right up there with the woodwinds choir. The oboe sounds so sweet in the lower range.

Everyone needs to buy this library so Tim will sell add-ons like more articulations images/icons/smile.gif Tim, I guarantee you, if you make an add-on with staccatos; non-vibrato for flute, oboe, and english horn; and major/minor runs for flute, oboe, english horn, clarinet, and maybe bassoon; you will have people frothing at the mouth and buying your library like there\'s no tomorrow.

Regarding your comment in the other thread about it being hard to sample non-vibrato winds.. how hard is it? Dan Dean Solo Woodwinds has an oboe that comes with vibrato and non-vibrato. I\'ve heard non-vib oboe other places too.. it can\'t be that difficult. Just a thought.

I\'m buying these winds the soonest chance I get.

Hey images/icons/smile.gif

Just wanted to chime in and say ... wow!

I\'ll post the guitar(s) within about a week.

For the demos, I used a simple reverb called \"strings\" on the Roland VS-880.

In the Dark Winds demo, yes there is a bit of dissonance at that section. I assure you, the instruments are very well in tune. Each sample was pitch corrected at the editing stage.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Wow! Have to say I really like the sound of the demos. I guess you have a new customer pretty soon. Thanks alot !

Just ordered the Lib. I´m looking forward to have a closer \"ear\" at it.

Recording non vibrato is as easy as recording vibrato. But to my ears, there\'s an aditional layer of sterility because they\'re samples that isn\'t very flattering to non vibrato samples.

MDesigner

Tim,

The reason I ask about non-vibrato is because it would be nice to play a couple notes on an oboe, without vibrato, then keyswitch to the vibrato version on the last note. It would allow for more realistic phrases, I think.

Sorry if I\'m coming across as picky. Your library is amazing and I will be making a purchase soon. I\'m just looking at options we could have down the road that would help us out, and as a nice bonus for you, give you more sales. images/icons/smile.gif

It may be too early...but does anyone have this library yet? User opinions would be very nice indeed.

I´ve ordered it on the 5th and as I´m here in Germany I don´t expect the library to arrive before end of next week. I´ll keep you updated.
