    Trumpet improvisation

The orchestra's part was edited to serve as a base for the trumpet solo. Then, the trumpet was played in as an improvisation andonly the obvious glitches were corrected.
    W. Marsalis, my trumpet idol, and his Hayden trumpet concerto was the initiative for the piece.

I'm really glad to see you posting more music, Ted - and so soon! Good deal.

This was extremely pleasant to listen to. So you first edited a recording of the orchestra, and then did the trumpet on top - What was the sound source for your trumpet? Could you explain a bit more about the project? - it's intriguing.

    Re: Trumpet improvisation

Thank you RichardMc for your kindness
Randy, this stated out as a piece for orchestra. When it was finished, still in MIDI, I felt that a trumpet solo would be nice. So, I turned on recording and played in the trumpet, truly improvising. Then, because I did make mistakes, I corrected them in MIDI, just deleting the mistakes. I left it as it was because I liked it as it was.
The trumpet was Westgate Studios Trumpet, which came with a convolution stack on.
    Thanks, glad you like it.

    Hi Ted,

Nice. I'd love to play it for you. Send me the midi file and I will play it and send you the wave file. It's a nice solo!

    Haydn would be proud!

    Best Regards,
    Bill

    Re: Trumpet improvisation

    Ted,

This was really a pretty trumpet solo piece.

A violin can be so beautiful and expressive but the trumpet has an uplifting, majestic quality to it that is felt in a special place in ones heart when combined with a nice ambience.

Very nice, love the orchestra beneath it all. Trumpet sits very well in the whole piece and sounds great too.

Overall a very relaxing piece to listen to.

    Re: Trumpet improvisation

Thanks Bill, Phill and Graham for listening.
Bill, I would love to take you up on your offer. I am in the midst of getting ready to go home to Ontario, so, if your offer still stands, once home, I'll get in touch with you again.

Am excited to do that. Give me a note, and I'll see what I can do.
