New Kid On The Block

Hello
It my firth post on this forum.
I been here almost a month, most of the time reading and trying to update.

I\'m 25 years old from Israel corently starting to see some profits from my electronic music production,I\'m into house club music.
But at the same time I\'m just inlove with Orchestra music and film scores .
I\'m taking piano and salfedgio leassons again.
I have a great teacher, his been teaching almost 20 years in Moscow music academy.
Started to see some good progression in writting Orchetral music ,curently working on adagio wich my teacher think is very good, but I will also let you hear it when i will finish with the samples and moke ups.

Like i said i have been reading here and its seems that everyone recomends to read \"Rimsky -Korsakov\'s Principles of orchestration\"

When I told about it to my teacher,he also recomended the book

So I go to amazon.com found the book for 13.00$
Than today by reading some topic got to http://www.truespec.com

And I found the same book for 74.95$ or maybe it isnt the same book :
\"It\'s the only orchestration book covering electronic instruments with suggested scoring/recording practices. The book is organized for fast referencing.\" ....its from the Overview.

And here come the queistions:

Are the book on truespec which have a 8 volumes is a new book with some additions to sampler users ?

Or its the same book ?

I personaly want the original book .
Thanks for the help.

Sharon

p.s. sorry for my English mistakes

Sharon:

I have a copy of the original book, and the original does not have 32 chapters--rather, it has only five. So I\'m pretty sure the book you saw at TrueSpec is not the original.

Besides, the price seems awfully high based on the $13 that I spent for my copy.

Good luck!

Welcome Sharon,
Glad to have you here and I hope you make a lot of beautiful music, whether it\'s electronic or orchestral

I, too, have Principles of Orchestration by Rimsky-Korsokov. I\'m not sure the exact date (I don\'t have the book in front of me) but I think this book was written in the late 19th early 20th century and would not cover any form of electronic instrumentation. Principles of Orchestration is more about finding balance between different sections and using combinations of sections to find different timbral textures.

So the other book which contains recording practices could not be the Rimsky-Korsikov book. By the way, I would recommend the Rimsky-Korsikov book to anyone fond of orchestral composing.

Good Luck
