Question about Halion

    Hi all,

Do any of you use Halion as well as Giga? I\'m curious about the comparative merits.

Also, can you refer me to a Halion forum - maybe the Halion equivalent of Northern Sounds. I\'ve looked. No luck.

    Thanks,

    ~Peter Schouten

    Re: Question about Halion

I\'ve been using Giga for quite a while, and just started using Halion (in Sonar) last night, with a lot of help from Kip McGinnis at Bardstown Audio. (Thanks Kip!!!)

I can tell you that Giga is far easier to use, but since Halion supports 24 bit and giga does not, and also Halion will work as a VST instrument (with a wrapper) in Sonar, I will probably use it the majority of the time now.

BTW, Kip\'s 24 bit Bosendorfer Imperial 290 for Halion sounds awesome!

Giga is easier to use?? Wow, HALion is easier to use than a toothbrush. What\'s hard to use about HALion?

    Re: Question about Halion

Try getting a library to load properly in Halion for the first time, if it doesn\'t know where to find its wav files. Even with help, it took over an hour to get it working. The method in the manual did not work at all.

I have been known to have trouble brushing my teeth though.

<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">Oh yes the lost samples bug, well that\'s a bug so should be fixed really. Its pretty rare though, I never get it when I first load a library. The simplest solution is to select \'search in directories\' and HALion finds the samples itself no problem. Kontact has exactly the same bug, except it _doesn\'t_ find the samples itself...
