Orchestral Libraries

Hello,

I am new to this forum. I\'m an organist in Seattle, WA.

I\'ve tired to find somewhere on this forum where I could identify what some of you are talking about, when you use abbreviations, as I\'m interested in finding out about orchestral libraries, but, I\'m having trouble learning your language.

I\'m wondering if you could help me identify the following letters. I\'d like to know what they stand for, their formats, and their approximate cost.

My list is as follows: VSL, SAM, GOS, EWQLSO,SISS,PMI,GPO,GOS, Kirk Hunter, Dan Dean, Moroslav Vitous, Advanced Orchestra, QL, etc. etc.

I don\'t know if there are others libraries to consider, but, if there are would you PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE tell me who they might be?

Cost is not an issue, but, quality is.

I\'m also looking for good brass libraries. They don\'t necessarily have to be from the same company.

I\'m actually looking for two different types of libaries.

First, I\'d like to find a \"Symphonic orchestra\" that is \"somewhat usable\" for a WIDE range of classical music.

Second, I\'d like to find a \"Hollywood orchestra\" that is capable of styles from Henry Mancini to contemporary pop.

I know the above descriptions are broad and general, but I don\'t know any other way to start asking questions, except to just jump in.

THank you very much for your help.

Here are some websites. They will give much more info than I can type.

VSL: http://www.vsl.co.at
SAM: http://www.projectsam.com
EWQLSO, QL: http://www.soundsonline.com
SISS: http://www.sonicimplants.com
GPO, GOS: http://www.garritan.com
Kirk Hunter: http://www.kirkhunterstudios.com
Dan Dean: http://www.dandeanpro.com
Miroslav: http://www.ilio.com

Most tend to lean towards classical and film styles. Check out QL Brass for pop/jazz as well at VSL\'s new Saxophone 1 lib.

Enjoy the journey!
