a orchestral demo -GOS, DDSW&SB, UPO, Giga Harp

This is my new orchestral music.

Strings - GOS
Brass - DDSB
Woodwind - DDSW
Percussion - UOP
Harp - Giga Harp
That\'s all I used.

Any coments are welcome.

Very nice composition!

Unfortunately it doesn\'t sound orchestral to my ears. The strings and brass sounds weird and the woodwinds sound like GM sounds. The percussion is great and the harp is excellent, but the overall mix sounds very strange to me.

You need to buy yourself some better samples

Congratulations on the composition though!

<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">There\'s nothing wrong with his samples - GOS and DDSB are gorgeous! They do sound a bit strange here though I agree.

Hey Kentaro, are you using a Mac or PC? Get altiverb if you have Mac or Acoustic Mirror for PC because the brass in your piece would benefit you greatly. I\'m a hall guy, but I like close reverberations as well. The DDSB is too sizzly. Good composition though, enjoyed it.

Ken-P,

Very nice work. I enjoyed listening to it and to your other music on your website.

This piece is certainly enjoyable enough. It does sound strange and one reason seems to be that you\'ve used a lot of fortissimo brass, when the actual volume is more mezzoforte. You might try reducing the velocity in the MIDI track then increase the volume of the resulting audio to compensate. This will take some of the bite off the brass. If you really want the fortissimo sound the brass needs to be louder with respect to the other instruments.

Also are some of your instruments hard panned to one side? It sounded that way.

Ken,

I agree with all the comments made (especially on it being a nice composition.)

Brass for me is the usual culprit to sounding \'sequenced\'. I would suggest picking up Samhorns ($99). They will sit very nicely in your mix. Also, it does sound like your Vlns / Violas are panned hard left while your cellos / basses are hard right - you might want to \'mesh them together\' a tad more.

Keep up the writing. Can\'t wait to hear more.

Also consider SOV or Vota (for choirs).

Rob
