    Best jazz drums?

    Hi all!

What jazz drum library is the best?
Very important for me is good sounding and varied brush sounds.

    Preferrably Giga or Halion format.

    Jonas,

I don\'t own them but I\'ve heard very positive things about the Erskine collection. Puurfect Brushes sounds nice also. Scarbee\'s new drum set samples sound great also - consider them!

Peter Ereskine is very good althought a bit limited. The Samplist\'s Guide to Jazz Drums by Ralph Peterson is excellent. Lots of styles (Old School, Brushes, Bop, Afro Cuban, etc.)
    PowerFX is the company.

    Re: Best jazz drums?

I\'m extremely interested in Scarbee\'s drums for jazz styles, when they make it to the GS 3 format.

I have not used Purrrfect brushes, but the drums themselves have a lot of very intimate samples which work well in that setting. The cymbals, for sure, are in that ballpark.

I suspect there are other libraries well suited to task as well, I just don\'t have the opportunity to produce nearly as much of that genre as I like.

The Sonic Implants kits are good. I think they are called Gigasampler Drum Implants at their web site:

    http://www.sonicimplants.com/sonicgiga/gigasamplerdrum.htm

With some practice, the brush kit can be very effective. The stick kit is good too. You can download these kits from SI web site for a moderate fee. Check out their demos.

Excuse me for shamelessly promoting my music, but I used their stick kit (and a few of the brush cymbal splashes) in this piece:

The DW Cherry stick kit and Brush Drumkit (Walnut brush kit) were used.

I\'m not satisfied with the tone of the tom-toms.
