    Garritan Issues

I just bought a new computer and installed Finale 2014, upgrade. I've
also uninstalled and did a clean install. Still no Garritan sounds.

For some reason I get an error message:
The requested virtual instrument plugin could not be found.

    Missing VST instrument plug-in.

Everything was running fine with XP but now I can only play
    through MIDI.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I don't have Finale myself, I think for a Finale user step in it might be helpful to know :

    1) which Library are you using? For instance, are you using a full Garritan library GPO4, or are you using the Garritan sounds that are included with Finale
    2) what version of the Aria player do you have installed.
    3) what sound driver are you using in the audio setup (ASIO, MME, etc.)

    data data data...

A tech at Finale resolved the problem. The virtual instrument
plugin wasn't loading. It was a simple fix.
    1. Check to see if Garritan sounds were loaded via Aria Player.
    2. MIDI/Audio/Reassign playback sounds.

That's very good news, Deacon - Glad it was fixed for you.

Side note - In your first post, when you were having the issue, you said, "...now I can only play through MIDI..." - and I did understand your meaning, but I just wanted to point out that using Garritan instruments is also "playing through MIDI" - they're just better than the garden variety of MIDI instruments. But they are played with streams of MIDI data, like all soft synths and samplers.

    Have fun with your music!
