Middle Eastern Percussion and (female) Vocal CD recommendations ?

    Hi there !

I was wondering if someone could help me out with recommendations of sample cds that feature (mostly or only) middle eastern rythms and/or vocals (preferede melismatic one both melismatic and non melicmatic). I\'m having this project in the near future and could really need the info. I have heart of asia and africa also vocal planet but nothing of this has the stuff I\'m searching for. big fish\'s \"hadeeth arabic rymths\" sounds cool (but the audio cd format is kinda...). what about roots of the middle east ?

any help is highly appreciated !

    thanx and best greetz, boro

    I second Nick B.\'s suggestions.

Also Big Fish Audio has 2 titles:

    \"Hadeeth Arabic Rhythms\" and
\"Roots of the Middle East and North Africa\".

No vocals on these, but good, authentic percussion.

    Hope that helps.

    Best,

    John Z.

Yellow Tools Culture has to be considered. Fantastic middle eastern darbuka and frame drums. Lots of other great ethnic percussion.

Doesn\'t stormdrums have some middle eastern percussion too?

Be sure to check out Quantum Leap\'s Rare Intruments. It\'s got A LOT of taikos and also lots of european instruments, but it\'s middle eastern instruments are very well done with fantastic riffs. I did This Piece with mostly QLRI.

Edit: Sorry, you were looking for rhythms. QLRI doesn\'t have rhythms, just instruments.

    Nice piece, His Frogness.

Bolder Sounds has several darbuka loops on their Best of Giga CD. There may be more on one of their Akai titles.
