    Hi Ted,

Thank you so much for your mini rhapsody. Mini as to duration, maxi as to content and emotion. Finally a piece with good old fashioned and decent classical harmony.

And as we can expect from Ted, with that so typical Hungarian melancholic sound: the sadness of pure joy (or vice versa ?)... The orchestration is superb, the choice of main instruments (horn, flute) has its effect to accentuate the themes. I like it. I like the whole piece as one flood of emotions. The use of harmonic scales is always a valuable extra.

The fact that you did al this with Garritan only makes it even more precious. Congratulations, dear friend, I wish we could hear more of this!

    Hey Ted,

You have some lovely orchestration, but the processing of the music could use some work. The horn (might be a trumpet - wasn't sure) early on is a bit too bright, and overpowers the rest of the instruments. I would suggest lowering the dynamics on it a bit.

The other main problem I am hearing is that it sounds like a recording of the echo of an orchestra in the very back of a cathedral. It has far too much reverb, which takes away from a lot of detail in the piece, and also makes it sound a bit midi ish. Try making it as dry as you can, and then add just enough reverb to give the instruments a little "space" so that they breath.

    Best,
    Michael

    Re: Minirhapsody

Thanks Max for your kindness. For me, at my age, Hungarian or not, melancholy is a way of life now.
I always remember of the guy who fell off from the tenth floor, as he gets to the fifth floor, he said: "So far, so good!".
So, so far so good for me too, but gravity keeps acting on me...

Thanks again, and I hope you are in good health.

Very nice, Mister Ted, expecially your soaring, stratospheric horn part.

I enjoyed the listen. Thanks for sharing it with us.

    (I am whispering too)
If you will not send an apple (polished) to Max, he is going to fail you!!
But, if you wish, in a PM to me, you could safely disagree with Him, regarding my feeble attempts...
