GPO Host?

I have seen this mentioned in different threads. What is this exactly?

Re: GPO Host?

Hi jkerr,

GPO has a stand alone version and a plugin
version .
The plugin version also comes in several plugin
standards = VST , Dxi , AU and RTAS .

In order to be able to use the plugin version you need a host which is typically a sequencer program
such as Cubase(VST), Sonar(Dxi), Logic(AU) etc ,
though there are a few hosts that act
as a standalone instrument rack that and that is
their sole purpose and have no sequencing or
recoding capabilitys of their own such as Chainer.

To use the GPO VST plugin in Cubase as the host
you most open the cubase VST instrument rack and
there you will find GPO in the drop down list
of installed VST plugins , select GPO and it will be loaded into the rack and be ready for use
within Cubase .
Now you can select the loaded GPO plugin as the
output for a midi track within cubase .
Thus when your composition is complete and mixed
you can go the the cubase export audio menu and
render the entire mix to a single .WAV audio file that can the be burned to CD .

In this way all your instuments and effects are
integrated entirely within Cubase and the cubase
enviroment becomes a Virtual Studio as the name
\'VST\' implies = \'V\'irtual \'S\'tudio \'T\'echnology

BTW jkerr (sorry)I now realize from looking at some of
you previous posts that you obviously already know most of what I wrote above , I was just going
to delete it but then thought I would leave it
for the benefit of pure newbies

Re: GPO Host?

Thank you Magpie, but that is not what I was referring to. In another thread Gary states the following:

Pedal mode now set to Legato Mode by default
Various improvements to the instrument programming.
Kontakt Player has greater stability.
Extended ranges of some of the instruments
Integration with upcoming GPO Host
<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">The \"upcoming GPO Host\" was what I was referring to. It seems to be a host for using the library over a network or something.....I am not sure and was trying to get clarification on this. I appreciate the response though.

Re: GPO Host?

Ahh right I see what you mean, yes it is somewhat
enigmatic

maybe it is something like FX teleport , but then I guess GPO could be used with FX teleport as it is now already anyway

I believe GPO Host is a program to allow you to connect GPO with the Overture sequencer supplied on the disk. Right now, you need another midi router to do it.

Re: GPO Host?

Well, I hadn\'t even considered that as an option. I was thinking it was more of a networking feature......like fxteleport......hmmm. Well, I will keep my eyes posted to see what else develops. Thanks to everyone mschff and magpie
