    another quartet demo

    This is another suite I wrote for a string orchestra. I used the string quartet preset in GPO changing the second violin from the stradivari to the guarnieri because I prefer it. I also used the GPO reverber preset concert hall 2 changing the delay to 1000 ms and the cubase SL 1 compressor.
    I used cubase SL on mac OS X 10.2.8.
    As for the previous quartet demo I posted I put every note by mouse. Probably using a keyboard is possible to have more expression from GPO.

    To download the files click with the left mouse button and select download, I hope it works, it seems that lycos has some problems.
    Any comment is welcome
    thanks

    VERY nice!! At times I forgot I was listening to samples. Makes me want to write a string quartet!
    (or finally do justice to my grandfathers\'s many quartets).

    Gary should put these up on his site right away!

    I wrote to use the left button but the correct one is the right button to download.
    If you can\'t download the files you can go here

    http://www.utenti.lycos.it/mcorradin/musiche2/

    amd you should see something like that

    Index of /mcorradin/musiche2

    * Parent Directory
    * mv1.mp3
    * mv2.mp3
    * mv3.mp3
    * mv4.mp3

    and clicking on the mp3 files you should download them using the right button and the option save as (it can be that you see it only like a link or a web page and not as a file clicking with the right button but then when you try to save it it becomes an mp3).
    I hope it works
    thanks

    1st Violins and 2nd’s are very “snythy”. . . Viola and cello “muddy,” but better. Are the double stops playable by the cello? Probably, but I get the impression from the youth here that manipulating the sample libraries takes preeminence over real orchestration - what is playable on an open string - reference double and quadruple stops - and what is not type of thing.

    Just giver\' with the keyboard type of thing seems to be the mentality. . .

    E minor, I used the quartet preset because many people ask for quartet demo but I wrote the suite for a string orchestra, so sometimes there are \"too much notes\" for four players.
    I don\'t know if the instrument sometimes sound synth because of the cubase compressor effect I used.
    I have to check it.

    <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">Thanks Michael, that did the trick. It sounds good.

    It\'s interesting that you wrote it for a larger ensemble than a quartet. I thought you were trying to emulate double and triple stops! As such I was going to say that a few times it seemed to work, but if that was not your intention, well...I still like it pretty much. The solo strings have not been showcased well enough before this!

    Re: another quartet demo

    Very nice Michael. I really like your string writing and some of your phrasing and technique is extraordinary.

    It\'s good to hear GPO used in this way. We wanted to give users the ability to make small intimate sections and you have shown that this can be done. If you want, we could help with some fine tuning like portamento and other tricks (not that they need anything else).

    Thanks for sharing your music with us.

    Re: another quartet demo

    thank you very much to all, i\'ll post also the midi so if someone wnat to look at them better it could do.
    I used the quartet preset because I had immediately a very good result with GPO and than I only aggiusted something. Now I want to try to use the string sections but my laptop is dead and I have to wait to send it to assistance and have it back to try something else.
    thanks again
    Michael
