sustain/legato suffering

I have an Alesis QS synth, running Kontakt through SONAR. To get legato, I have to use my sustain pedal. When I use the sustain pedal, it sustains fine. But, it doesn\'t make the notes legato. Whassup?

Make sure the Pedal settings under Options is set to \"No sustain/Sostenuto Option, but MIDI controller\" to engage legato mode. This should be the default setting in the new version. Check to see if you have the latest player - version 1.02.008.

That didn\'t work. I would like some kind of legato here, since that\'s supposed to be a touted feature of the program.

I\'m using SONAR. I\'ve tried several postings on their website forum. Still, no luck.
