I would need to temporaryly move GPO nkis (to defragment HD) No problem?

I tried this weekend to defragment my \'C\' drive.
And likely this drive no longer has enough free rooom in order for XP to make the defragmenting properly, because at each try, I ended with : \"some files were not defragmented\".
And all the non defragmented files are the big GPO\'s nkis...
So my strategy would be to temporaryly move the GPO knis to another of my drives, entirely defragment the \'C\' drive, and move the GPO nkis back to \'C\' once it\'s done.
But with this N.I\'s ...ing C.P thing, I\'m a bit afraid to discover, when I move the nkis back to \'C\', that they are no longer authorized....
Am I right or wrong, to fear such a thing ?
Thanks in advance to the adventurous who did it before me, and know...

The registration key is in the registry so you shouldn\'t have any problems although I haven\'t tried it. Just keep the directory structure after defrag.
