    midi contoller values

    can someone refer me to a listing of midi controller values? At the moment, I am particularly interested in controller 88, which appears when I use my new piano for midi input.

    Richard,

    The original midi standard encodes velocity in the note-on event. Controller 88 is a finer breakdown of velocity, which in theory should give you a more sensitive velocity response. Older hardware probably ignores it if it is received. I suspect the same is true of most virtual instruments.

    Thanks. That confirms my suspicions that it must be something of the sort. But the event list looks a bit weird.
