I\'ve been teaching myself to play violin the past few weeks, in hopes that I can become good enough to overdub a live violin over section samples, and also to be able to write more efficient string passages. Anyway, a friend of mine said that my bow was \"way\" too tight. He loosened it for me and since I have no clue one way or the other, I didn\'t object. I noticed that I was playing worse than usuall - a lot of squeaky string playing. What is the benefit of a loose bow over a tight one. I noticed the bow was bouncing off the string less, but can any fiddle players out there shed some light?
