Just curious if users on this forum ever invest their hard earned dollars in stocks of the technology you use on a daily basis.

Re: Does Anyone Invest in the Technology You Use?

Not me, I could, but I wouldn\'t. OK, maybe Apple (I use Logic), but since I use it on a PC probably not. The low end of the computer market is too competitive (thanks Dell) so there\'s no profit there. The software market is too small a niche and is brutally competitive. If you want to make money on investments look for companies that have an unfair advantage, or as Warren Buffet once put it, \"license to print money.\"

I once invested in a company named Virage which makes video archiving, streaming software that some view as the best available. It\'s gone nowhere. I guiess I learned from that, that just because a product is good doesn\'t mean the company that makes it is profitable.

In fact I do... Mostly short term...

That\'s partly how I fund my expensive hobby.
