Humbled by trombone lesson
I played bass for 33 years---double and electric---plus sax, guitar and some piano. Carpal tunnel and tendonitus now prevents me from playing for any extended period of time. But one elbow still works pretty good. So I decided to concentrate on wearing that out, over the next 10 years or so, by learning to play trombone. A home MIDI studio, for me, is just no substitute for performing in public with other musicians.
Yesterday I had my first lesson. What a laugh. Talk about resetting your experience clock to zero. I can blow my nose with better control. But it is exciting to be starting something new and different.
Who among you have learned a totally different instrument in \"later\" life? I\'m 49. How did it, or is it, working out?
---just buzzin\' away, John.
