Arrow hits a slice of the IT press
Arrow Electronics has agreed to buy a huge slice of the US Tech press.
The deal includes EE Times, EDN in North America and Asia, Embedded.com, TechOnline and possibly some UBM events. Arrow has already bought United Technical Publishing, and the German outfit ICC Media that makes the popular Embedded Control Europe.
Arrow is clearly trying to snatch the established organs of electronics engineers. EE Times is the world’s leading B2B electronics trade media brand, with three million daily page views.
All the cookies and data about visitors will now head to Arrow which could be a mixed blessing. None of the magazines are making that much money and the dark satanic rumour mill suggests that Arrow might just asset strip the lot for its contacts list. This is unlikely, particularly in the case of EE Times, but apparently the magazine overheads are high and Arrow will have to do something about that.
