    Intel P4 FSB speed vs.Clock speed - what\'s best for Giga 2.5/3?

With Gigastudio 3.0 coming right around the corner with its unlimited polyphony, what will matter most to help Giga 3.0 play back 160+ voices - faster FSB(533, 800mhz) or a faster processor(2.4, 2.6, 2.8ghz)? Undoubtedly more/greater is usually better, but which one matters the most? Would be useful to know for those who are rolling their own PC...

For the price difference you might as well go for the faster front side bus. The difference in mothersboards, CPU and RAM prices is usually not that much and may only be $50-$100 if you shop around.

For 2.5 any old processor seems to work fine these days. For 3.0 the main gain from a fast CPU will be GigaPulse and the Parametric EQ.

Regarding FSB vs. clock speed, there\'s no set rule. New generation CPUs are released, and sometimes the FSB makes a big difference, sometimes none at all.

I read http://www.tomshardware.com and http://www.anandtech.com for the latest benchmarks. I think content-creation is the measure that\'s most important to us.
