VirtualPiano & Midi Keyboard sound different?

Well, the virtual piano in Gigastudio96 sounds loud and clear when I click on it with my mouse, but my midi keyboard(Akai MP9000) sounds much quieter and kinda dull. What do I know. This is my first computer setup. Is this hardware or software related? Any advice?

    Athlon 1.4(Biostar M7MIA mobo)
    Gigastudio96
    Sonar
    Audiophile 24/96(IRQ 11)
    SBLive X-Gamer
    MP9000 midi-out(only) to Audiophile midi-in.

Is there some kinda midi volume I can set on my keyboard because I can barely hear it, yet that virtual piano in Gigastudio is mega-loud. I tried fiddling with that M-Audio control panel thingy but maybe I was doing it wrong cause it didn\'t do anything for me. Help out a pitiful person!

It could be that your MIDI keyboard is sending a very low velocity to Giga. That\'s the only thing I can think of that would account for the difference. - Doug
