The latest on win 2000/XP support for giga

Subject: [NemesysMusic] v2.5 GigaStudio Update (the 2k/Xp update)

    FYI,

I felt it was important to let you know our progress on v2.5 of GigaStudio.

Just a quick background - v2.5 is going to be a free upgrade to all
GigaStudio users. It will be downloadable. It main feature/enhancement
will be ability to run on a Win2k/Xp system. We have been working on
it full time for some time now, and it is our highest priority from a
    development
    standpoint.

Here is the plan. Everything is currently working on Xp, with the exception
of non-GSIF audio cards (ie Sound blaster etc). We need to internally
test on Win2k. Then we will send out copies to all our GSIF hardware
manufactures, so they can help us verify on the various hardware
cards. We then will give it out to a private beta group. If everything
looks good, we will make a public beta, and then release the code.

I am still looking for a couple more folks for the private beta. Here are
    the requirements:

    1. You need to be running on Xp/Win2k.
    2. You need to be a registered customer
    3. You need to be willing to sign a NDA (what you learn during the
    private beta session remains confidential)
    4. Please understand that with a new Os version there are going to be
rough spots. If you are rushing towards a deadline, this is not
the time to be a beta tester. If you have a system that has critical,
un-archived data, please do not turn this into a beta development
    system.

If you are still interested, please send an email to Kevin at
    kevinp@n...
with your CD key, and system configuartion. He will hook you up.

I will send out an email as soon as we are ready to go to a public beta.

    Regards,

I just noticed M-Audio\'s new WDM multiclient drivers on their site, does this mean that Giga\'s Win2k/XP incomatibilty is .exe related as well?

Thanks for the update on the progress of GigaStudio. It means a lot to me that someone at Tascam/Nemesys is providing information.

None of this is making sense, one of XP\'s features is exe. compatibility with win 98/se/95/n.t/2k,that being the case shouldn\'t Giga work with the proper WDM/GSIF drivers?

    Alan,

GS hooks into the OS as the kernel level to achieve the low latency disk streaming. It’s not just another exe.

So, to clarify, there WILL be SBLive support in the XP version of GigaStudio, it\'s just not done yet?

I would think that would be if creative comes up with GSIF/WDM drivers.

Creative’s Win2k drivers haven’t been updated in a years time. They don’t currently support SMP systems. Don’t hold your breath…
