If this question is elementary I apologize, I didn\'t see it addressed specifically when I searched the archives.
Does the physical positioning of a master hard drive on it\'s ATA cable have any bearing on response time?
The HD manufacturer, in this case Maxtor, specifies putting the master drive at the end of the cable, the slave in the middle. I\'ve got other ATA cables that are labeled with those same positions.
In my case and many other cases the CDROM is in the top bay and may or may not be movable. So I just set the jumpers manually on my drives not using cable select, because the hard drive has to be in the middle of the cable.
Does anyone know if this affects HD performance negatively, and if so, is there a workaround?
