I asked a vendor to recommend an audio in/out midi in/out to use in conjunction with Gigastudio 160.
He did some research and advised he talked with Tascam and came back with a recommendation of the US-122 -- a USB Leverl 2 device. Since Tascam makes the software as well, I thought it would be wise to have responsibility for any incompatability sit with just one company. I ordered US-122 along with Gigastudio and they arrived today.
I started reading the Gigastudio manual and found the following \"Note\":
<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">Before I open the US-122, and or go back to the vendor, I\'d like to know of anyone\'s opinion about the above statement vis-a-vis Tascam\'s own US-122.2.3 MIDI Interfaces
Note: ... we have observed distinct advantages to using ISA or PCI based MIDI interfaces, as these provide the best latency performance when used with any MIDI software. Parallel port based MIDI interfaces provide slightly slower latency performance, while many USB interfaces add up to 5 ms of timing latency and should be avoided if possible.
I plan to feed MIDI from a controller into GigaStudio for live performance and I\'m not sure a 5ms latency, if such occurs with with a US-122 on a fairly up todate system, is acceptable. Perhaps it is possible the Note was made in reference to older versions and USB 1 rather than the USB 2 that the US-122 is designed for.
Would anyone with a US-122 share what their latency has been?
