I bought a Silicon Image 3112a PCI 2 port SATA controller and installed 2 Samsung 160GB 8MB 7200 drives. Unfortunately, I am getting popping when playing back samples (VSL, SISS) in Giga. I updated all of the drivers to the card and flashed the card bios and still received the clicks.

My WD 80GB 7200 8MB IDE drive works perfect with the exact same samples. Although it is coneected to the integrated IDE port on the MB.

As far as I know the Samsung drives have great latency...better than the WD IDE drive...Has anyone encountered increased latency with the SI PCI SATA cards? Enough to introduce pops and clicks in Giga? Should I go with a new MB with integrated SATA controller?
