For all who are curious about old bass instruments

    GPOites...

A few threads ago there was talk of serpents, ophecleides, etc.

Look who must have been reading the thread...

    Jim

PS--it\'s an ophecleide. Note the saxophone-type keys and the cupped brass mouthpiece. The worst of all possible worlds...

Yes there is much to be cupped by a mouthpiece here. Oh....the instrument....I see now. Sorry about that.

Buffy\'s back with a new strategy to deal with the undead. Instead of perforating them with stakes and silver she\'s going to play \"Stardust\" through her ophecleide and annoy them back into their graves.

    Jim,

That was outstanding! And on such short notice too. I\'m not sure Buffy\'s playing would be quite up to your level, though. How did you put that together? Is that a sample you played or do you happen to have a secret room in your house where you store rare, centuries old wind instruments?

    Easy Rhino,

The instrument is a TUBAX, a contrabass saxophone. The file comes from the Tubax
section of contrabass.com. When I saw your reference to Stardust, I couldn\'t resist linking to the file!!

This link really reminds me of the PDQ Bach concerto for lute and bagpipe. You get lulled halfway to sleep by the lute solo then the bagpipe kicks in, pretty much drowning out the rest of the orchestra.
