Intelligent MIDI Sequencing with Hamster Control

Someone just sent this interesting link:

Intelligent MIDI Sequencing with Hamster Control (also mentioned on MIDI mockup).

Could this be the future of MIDI? Perhaps a GPO version?

Would this new version of GPO ship with or without hamsters?

This seems to be parallel to the question of placing an infinite number of monkeys in a room with typewriters (now Word Processing software, of course) and seeing how long it would take for them to come up with the complete works of Shakespeare! Do the hamsters get any feedback? Does any of their \"input\" come back to them so as to influence their \"artistic control\"?

Inquiring minds want to know! I\'m sure this will be on CNN Headline News by the end of next week!

(I glanced over the 66 pages of the paper but was unable to find a link where one might actually HEAR what these creatures produced from this effort. If anyone finds a link, kindly post it.)

There was a link in the main page, in the same area where you find the PDF for the full article.

Re: Intelligent MIDI Sequencing with Hamster Control

A revision of a classic joke from Hamsterdam:

A man walks into a bar but didn\'t have money for a drink and offers the bartender his hamster.

The bartender asks what the hamster could do.

The guy reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a hamster, puts him on the keyboard and the hamster starts playing classical music using GPO and Intelligent MIDI Sequencing with Hamster Control (as referenced above). The hamster can really play...

I\'ve never seen anything like that before,\" says the bartender. \"That hamster is really gifted.\" The guy downs the drink and asks the bartender for another.

\"Will that be cash or another amazing animal?\" asks the bartender.

The man reaches into his coat and pulls out a frog. He puts the frog on the bar, and the frog starts to sing. The frog has a marvellous voice and great pitch (not as good as DIVA though).

A stranger at the other end of the bar offers the guy $100 for the frog.

\"It\'s a deal,\" says the guy and he grabs the money and gives the stranger the frog. The stranger runs out of the bar.

\"Are you crazy?\" asks the bartender. \"You sold a singing frog for $100? It could have been worth millions. \"

    \"Not really,\" says the guy. \"The hamster is a ventriloquist.\"
