Oh yeah? What about EU customs? 9 out of 10 packages gets intercepted by them.

Good point. No one escapes that, Alex, but the VAT can be minimized depending on the item ordered and the value that\'s declared. The best items to order from us are often the Vienna libraries and our books.

Peter...can you declare a lower value? I recently ordered a smaller sample library from another US based company and they declared a much lower value than the actual product price.

I\'ve heard this is possible since the sample libraries are non-material...i.e. you don\'t pay for the actual samples, just the licence to use them.

I ask this because when bying the $249 USD GPO from TrueSpec getting it shipped to Sweden, I ended up paying the equivalent of $70 USD in taxes and customs handling alone (not counting the shipping cost).

It\'s not that I think it wasn\'t worth it, especially considering the great service you provide, but if one can minimize the costs it\'s of course always welcome.

Nevertheless, I recommend anyone doing business with TrueSpec...just make sure to check your taxes and customs fees first if your a non-US customer. However, there\'s a good chance you\'ll still make a save, despite VAT and customs.

Cheers

It totally depends on the distributor as customs value MUST be within 10% of the insured value. A few distributors will replace lost product (provided it\'s shipped in such a way that the order is trackable) for cost of the item excluding the intellectual content. That arrangement has not been made available to us by GPO.

Anything declaration other than that constitutes fraud, and we won\'t do that. EVERYTHING we ship outside the US has the correct and proper Customs paperwork with it.

For example, based on the dollar vs. the Euro, there is roughly a 20% savings off the posted price. So if an item has a 10% discount off it at TrueSpec, in Europe you\'re basically getting 30% off based on the exchange rate on the Euro.

Apply that concept to any Vienna library or the Kirk Hunter Solo Strings. I\'m not an economist, but it\'s still an excellent savings.

Well I just ordered GPO from your site. I own EWQL Platinum already, but it would be nice to have a portable \"scratcpad\" and use it with my Sibelius 3.

I got the good discount, although in retrospect, I might have bought it at your regular price and gotten the books.

I\'ll probably get your books anyway after some research. I have been searching all over for a good ochestration book for a begginer that grows with ones knowlege. I have the Forsyth Book, but it is WAY over my head and kind of out-dated it seems.

Thanks,
Brian

P.S. Will you provide me with a tracking number when it ships?

Thanks for your order, and yes, you\'ll get a tracking number. And as for Forsythe, I don\'t think he\'ll ever go out of date. It sounds like a good book to start with would be Applied Professional Harmony 101.

Re: LOWER Virtual Instrument Prices at TrueSpec/MAY 15

Thank You Peter!

I\'ve spent a lot of time going over the Berklee material that I saved (1985-1989). I am a drummer. I got some really good harmony education there, but most of it was focused on 4 horn charts, leadsheets, and arranging for a small ensemble. I have played piano by ear all my life, and so far my projects with orchestral music have been well recieved (and making some money). At the same time, I have many gaps in my \"traditional music\" education. Mainly, I have never written and arranged for an entire orchestra! (at least until recently).

I know that parallel 5ths and octaves are BAD - and that\'s about it!

Thanks again,
Brian

Peter...thank\'s for clearing that up. Guess it\'s more a question of insurance value then.

As far as fraud is concerned, my intention was not to offend you or suggest that you would do anything of that kind. However, I sincerely apologize if it sounded that way. In fact, having done business with TrueSpec myself...IMO you are the epitome of professionalism. Couldn\'t ask for better.

I mentioned this because declaring a lower \"non-material\" value is apparently just fine with the Swedish customs (again you don\'t pay for the samples themselves, just the right to use them)...but, I dunno how US customs views this though, perhaps completely different. My bad if I assumed it might be the same.

Brian2112...I\'m a beginner when it comes to orchestration and I just got Applied Professional Harmony 101 myself and can really recommend it. Great book.

Cheers

Rodney
