Mp3 Demos - Galaxy Steinway 5.1

hi,

I\'ve played The Galaxy Steinway for a while.

I\'ve discoverer a lot of good things about this piano each days.

And i\'m now working for the final incredible version of this piano and a new surround version with pedal behaviour and String resonance.

I will post the mp3 demos tomorrow.

If you want to send me one of your favorite good Piano midi file, it will be a pleasure to make an Mp3 with Galaxy sound and my version without lowpass filters.

Regards,

Olivier

Re: Mp3 Demos

Hi Olivier,
In order to compare the Galaxy with other pianos I would suggest using midi files that are used by other producers:

Here is the Bach 2 Voice Invention that I used in previous demos:
Bach Invention 13
and
here is Adagio Cantabile: Adagio midi file

And don\'t forget the Purgatory Creek demo file. Not the best (since it lacks long sustained notes and chords and has little pianissimo) but it was used by every producer until now.

I know I don\'t want to hear a demo that\'s all about staccato notes. I also would like some modern improvisations (not everyone plays classical).

1 ) pedal effect (Real pedal down behaviour)
2 ) String release
3 ) natural sound - without filter

It\'s very dry and warm.

hello olivier

another french guy here

anyway, here is a midifile i did to test the Steinway from Eastwest (i used it with Kontakt).
it would be nice if you can render it with the galaxy to know which one is the best ...
it\'s a medley of some of the most popular music from john williams performed by myself on a Motif 8.
Thanks.

Re: Mp3 Demos

I think one thing to keep in mind is that these samples (at least when used in stereo) are VERY DRY! Most of the piano libraries so far have had some kind of ambience in just the stereo samples.

When I received my Galaxy the other day, the first thing I thought was “The decay is too fast!” (Especially around the F and Bb above middle C, and then again at the extreme high end) . If you use Sonar, add just a splash of Lexicon and let the drooling begin.

The “official” demos can lead one to believe that the lower octaves are “tinny”, all treble, and thin. Remove the filters as Olivier said and WOW! Better low end than any of the others (IMO).

This is the most expressive sampled instrument I have yet played. And you can count on Olivier to make any Piano sound even better! I think the 290, the Steinway B, and this one are ALL must haves! If I had to pick just one....woa...
